Composing?

I really enjoy the sound of the violin.  A while back, I tried transposing a bunch of violin music so that I could play it on the clarinet.  Unwise to the ways of writing music on a computer, I printed out a bunch of blank sheet music and did this all by hand.  At first.  It worked, but it took me a really long time.  I can read music fine, but transposing was something I had never done before, and, most of the time, I felt like I was just guessing where everything went. How good I used to be…

Most of the time when I look up clarinet videos, everybody sounds amazing.  When I record myself playing, I sound awful, and not just because I have non-existent recording equipment.  When YouTube videos of clarinet players always sound so much better than I do, it’s nice to listen to old recordings of my own playing.  They remind me that I am actually getting better.
